The Troll-In-Chief maintains the right to rant about putrid rap "music" rave about new culinary concepts and write brilliantly about all sorts of interesting stuff.
Welcome to Mute Monday. Post pictures related to the theme at Your blog then come here to say "I'm Up" then go visit the other players and praise their work. Next week's reader-selected theme is "Singers/Songs/Songwriters".
So early! Which is good because I actually have time to look. I'm not a huge fan of Westerns especially when growing up. Great set of vintage pics Troll! HMM/SS.
Love the Troll! My sister's house is directly behind Hopper's old house in Taos (Luhan house). It's a gallery now, but wee-doggies my brother in law used to tell some excellent stories about the Hopper/Fonda days! We had a small technical issue, but will be up shortly! Happy MM!
I'm up - I let Blogger publish for me and then forget.
I like your pick of alternative Westerns, that's pretty much what I was thinking as I scrolled down. Dennis Hopper - he just gets cooler as he gets older.
hang em high is one of my all time favorites. wasnt DH one of the boys that were going to be hanged where eastwoods character loses his taste for revenge?
i like westerns. unforgiven was the last one i really enjoyed. i tried to like 3:10 to yuma but i didnt
Gotta love the Hopper. Especially since YOU informed me he was one of us. Grrrherhahahhahaha!
Aboxer,
People should get cooler as they get older, dontcha think? Maybe he'll remake "The Last Movie" from a sober perspective. The IDEA rocked. He was a bit too stoned and broke to execute it back then.
K9,
Thanks. Did you know he was an artiste too? I haven't seen 3 of the Alt.Westerns I listed. The last good one I saw was "Tombstone". Think that was before "Unforgiven".
Like AB, I schedule mine and it posts on its own so I can go to bed. Therefore, I am Up and have been for nearly 12 hours :)
I never really think of Dennis Hopper in terms of Westerns so this was an interesting one for me but we have John Wayne and Clint Eastwood in common. It was so hard to choose which film because they both made so many great Westerns.
Huge western movie fan. I was therefore expecting great things from 3:10 to Yuma. And didn't get them. The best "western" in recent memory was No Country For Old Men. Before that, The Missing.
Great to have you back, Doll. We need more players.
IamNot,
Does she leave long comments?
Moi,
Agree it's hard to say what IS a "Western". "The Wild Bunch" was superlative but set in 20th Century. "Last Man Standing" was okay but set, I think, in the 30s.
Butch Cassidy's nephew ran a gang in Utah in the 30s as a real-life thing.
LOVE IT! My mom has a poster of John Wayne in her bedroom and if my dad acts up she says John Wayne is going to come down off the wall and wisk her off into the west :) It's all in fun and games. Super funny. Love these movies!

Nice selection.
Mine are all set and will be up at 12:01 a.m. on Monday.
Happy MM!
I love the green man with the girl...and Dennis Hopper! I'm a fan...I'm up!

Bunny,
Thanks. Hope the timer thing works for you.
Kate,
Thanks. Hopper took the pic of the babe with the Troll. He's an artiste, apparently.
Raven,
Thanks, it's easier for me to visit everyone if I start early.
Phos,
Didn't know Hopper was in BS.
JJ,
Thanks much. That's too cool about Taos! I suspect Hopper drank a wee bit back in the day.
I'm up.
Love The Hopper. He hung around my Northern New Mexican hometown quite a bit, too. Lots of Hopper stories in these parts!
Happy Mute Monday!

Happy MM....y'all.
Hey--Hopper, heh. I likey, but really really thought youse gonna do a Lewis and Clark thang, Troll-Man!
I'se up.
Oh--on Western movies--newer movies--I did like 3:10 to Yuma, but really liked The Assassination of Jesse James By the Coward Robert Ford.
I'm up now! :D

Aunty,
Never entered my head to do CLARK/lewis. Was going to do West versus muslibs. Battle of Tours and Sobiessky stuff.
Raven,
Thanks, but I couldn't get your page to load. Too much stuff?
Cake,
Thanks. I was trying to go an original route.
I am up for the first time in weeks - yay! What a perfect theme to come back to. My grandpa was a huge fan of the Spaghetti Westerns!
I'm up.
Watching westerns...just another thing the wife and I don't agree on.

I posted a 2nd one...forgot something special to the Pacific NW.
I found some good pix for this one, but I got some bad news and haven't had time to write since. Just didn't want you to think I abandoned you!
